UAV CANNODES

Simple

CANBus is a mature communication protocol originally developed for the automotive industry to reduce discrete wire and connection complexity in modern automobiles. The system uses a single wire harness connecting each node on the CANBus, providing input power and communication between any node on the bus.

Reliable

CANBus electronic components and protocol are predictable and well defined. AeroMech Engineering has successfully leveraged this technology, adapting it to the UAV market. For example, a recent medium sized UAV application allowed a full wire harness weight reduction of 7lbs. Additionally, a significant improvement in wiring simplicity (quantity and type of connection) is achieved, yielding the benefit of greatly increased reliability.

Full Capability

AeroMech Engineering has developed a complete suite of CANNodes for controlling all aspects of UAV airborne systems. Applications include power management, air data, autopilot, control surfaces, downlink transmission control, payload control, and multiple system monitoring capabilities. Complete UAV control and telemetry can now be accomplished with significantly reduced wiring requirements.
